I'm a Cancer (7/6/69 2.40 am, Gemini asc.) who's looking for a long-term partner. I tend to look out only for guys of compatible signs, cause I'm thinking that they're the only ones that could yield a healthy long-term relationship. In the last year I find I've been meeting a lot of Libras (clashes with my sun) and Virgos (clashes with my Gemini asc.) but I've not pursued them for the reasons stated. I've read that compatible sun sign relationships are more likely to grow together over the years whereas incompatible sun sign relationships were more likely to grow apart over the years. Am I guilty of Sun sign prejudice (smile), or just taking the astrology thing a little too seriously? Please help.

One thing that most people don't realize is that to use astrology to the degree that is required for the purposes of compatibility you must do a complete astrological comparison between yourself and the person you are interested in. According to the date time and place that you have submitted you are in fact born under the sign Cancer but that's where is ends You have a Taurus ascendant not Gemini, two planets in Virgo well aspected to your Venus in Taurus which makes both Virgo and Taurus a good fit and Uranus in Libra in your fifth house using equal house method and sixth using placidus which means that this sign is better to socialize or work with.

In the area of your chart that deals with partnerships you have the sign Scorpio and this makes that sign Compatible as well. Sagittarius and Gemini fall in your second and eighth house the eighth being dead-end projects and the second an offshoot of the eighth making these signs the least likely especially with the Virgo that you have in your chart. Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, late Capricorn and Pisces should be the better signs for you.

Dear Eugenia,

I've written you numerous times in the past and didn't get a response. I hope you'd be able to help me this time. I did romantic compatibility charts between myself and a guy named "B" (under my log-in name and under his), so that I can see the difference between how we perceive each other.

In his chart, in the "Secrets/Illnesses" section, it says, "Be careful; this could be your undoing. Secret affairs, confusion, and love triangles could lead to a broken heart." The percentage was 50% relevance.

The interpretation wasn't too clear and I'd like some clarity. Who's broken heart? Mine or his? Who will be in the secret affairs and love triangles? Me or him?

This part of the romance compatibility has brought me much unhappiness. Some of it is true, which is why I am unhappy. I'd like to hear your response and receive some clarification on this prediction. The interpretation in the astroadvice romantic compatibility wasn't too clear.

You are overreacting. The 50% relevance is not very high. The reason for it is that you have a planet in your twelfth house and several of his planets fall in your twelfth house as well. This is an area that deals with secrets, hidden matters, illness etc. Your twelfth house however is very well aspected therefore it is remote that these occurrences will take place in a negative fashion. Any problems that you might have experienced over the past year would have been due to transiting Jupiter adversely hitting that area of your chart. Not only would this cause some little problems in these areas but also it would have caused confusion, overreacting and misunderstandings. Your comparison is in my estimation quite good. If you take things slowly and let your relationship continue to grow things should be just fine however if you decide to become jealous and overreact your relationship will probably deteriorate.

Dear Eugenia

I have separated from my husband after 14 years of marriage and I have been seeing another man for 15 months now. My ex was very jealous and controlling and his selfishness killed all the love I had for him. He was born on November 5 1955.

My present lover was a longtime acquaintance and we got together as my marriage was ending. He was born on September 26 1966.

I have always had a strong attraction to this man from the first time I saw him and my ex could see it somehow and it caused a lot of frictions in our marriage. Nothing ever happened between the other man and me until I became desperately unhappy and sought him in the last months of my marriage. He brought back laughter and joy into my life and I feel happy in his company. He is divorced and has a teenage daughter. We have a very discreet relationship for many reasons but now I wish we could take it to another level.

Could you please tell me if this relationship will lead to a commitment or if there is another man for me in my future? I am very careful whom I mingle with because I have two children that I want to keep safe. My present boyfriend has known them from birth and has been good and caring towards them.

Firstly, kudos to you for having the strength and courage to move on and getting away from a controlling and unloving marriage and for thinking of your children first.

The comparison with your ex showed signs of both mental and physical abuse that you and your children shouldn't be subjected to. His possessive obsession at an emotional level is something he was born with and shows clearly in his chart. In short he needs professional help to overcome this problem however he is the personality type that probably would never agree to that sort of therapy.

Your current relationship is not the best or most suitable match up for you long-term and is probably much better kept as a family friend. Unfortunately according to your astrological comparison with him there is evidence that he has the potential to be emotionally deceptive with you. I do believe that you have some karma with this man however and that it is likely he has served his purpose. Your chart indicates that you are in a high cycle regarding love this year and that it is important for you to get out and meet new people, however if you are tied up too tightly with your Libra man you aren't likely to experiment with potential partners. You match up well to those born under the signs Aries, Leo, Virgo, Libra and Aquarius. Should you want to give this relationship more time your next favorable cycle for love and romance will begin late next year and continue through the first three quarters of 2009.
